saving slaps in the face 

sometimes there are no shortcuts 
sometimes there is no solution or escape routes 
sometimes there is no middle ground 
a whisper is too much
and a scream is not enough

sometimes only the fragility of silence saves
only the violent shock of indifference 
is the right solution to arrogance and oppression 

the violence of our silent smile 
like a slap in the face, 
that will surprise us 
and save us 
once again
and so be it
