eyes watching other eyes
between the two trenches
and wondering
where is evil?
where is  goodness?
where is peace?

bodies
now as then
marching slowly
to the frontiers

bodies
obeying
and singing songs
until the end

bodies 
caged flesh and souls
as canaries in the mines
