you who have homes

far away in Every Gate City over the borders of any Elsewhere
among people that, we volunteers were trying to help
 there was  Kevin

Kevin lived in the streets and every day out in the parking lot
in front of the temple, in his head he would play
the same baseball game
over and over
day after day

he appeared in the evening with a shopping cart
and before disappearing again swallowed up by the suburban night, he declamed his sermon

"..... you who have homes, be good with the wanderers
'cause who knocks on your door has settled the dust of the road also for you

you who have dwellings, be good with the wanderers
'cause who knocks on your door has solved the stakes of the way also for you

you who have food on the table, be good to those who live in poverty
'cause they has swallowed the hunger also for you

you who have certainty of your destiny everyday of your life,
as you wake up in your quiet morning light,
stop for a moment and consider those who have no clue about the next second of their life

you who occupy the seats in the front row ,
you who have the premium pass and the right of access
turn around from time to time to see who has found the door locked as a punch on his face ,

from time to time turn around to those left behind, to those who are no longer able to keep up the pace

you who have homes, please consider for a second
the life of each and every one out there
you who have a home stretch your hands to those who are last,
to those who are lost and alone

because there is no salvation in objects or possession

the only possible salvation is together, hand in hand
hand in hand here and in every nation

true salvation is for each and every one
or there is no salvation at all for anyone!

there is no smile
there is no joy
there is no peace in the solitude of material wealth
in the solitude that only things can give

for once you
you who have homes
please accept this recommendation
from a vagabond who knocks on your door
for once and for all get rid of your fears!
and treat yourself  with a handshake

the only true home
 for women and men

the smile of a friend , the dust of the road
and the endless sky above us all ... "

and so Kevin would end his sermon and gather his things in the shopping cart and disappear
swallowed up in the suburban night again

these are only rumours from the peripheries of the world,
distortions from over the borders
voices of those who live beyond the edge

"..... you who have homes, be good with the wanderers
'cause who knocks on your door has settled the dust of the road also for you
