when I
arrived at the border the officer asked me
do you have
anything to declare ?
I reasoned for
a moment and replied, staring into his eyes
yes !
I
declare that I have lived
I declare
my existence in life
I declare
my ignorance
I declare
that I do not know where I’m travelling to
nor I the route
I do not know
where I’m
going to
the officer
listened to me carefully
and
categorically ruled right in front of me
the irrefutable
verdict
what you declare it is not a crime ,
he said
with presumptuous and authoritative glance
,
what you
declare has no monetary nor contingent value
is not
convertible into currency and cannot be exchanged!
this is what the officer ruled revealing to me his repugnance and hate
and then smiled
with superiority and with his hand indicated me to continue to go away
to continue
my useless wandering to the unknown
with a permit in my
pocket,
a safe-conduct of superficiality and indifference
and so, with my
luggage full of questions, proposals, anxieties and prayers
useless and
worthless accessories according to the customs of the empire by the
peripheries of mankind,
like so in
peace, I continued my peaceful migration
