under this gray and moonless sky
if you listen at night to the wings beat
of the flocks migrating
without fear you'll be able to perceive the hope
for a new dawn
though I know that you will never migrate again
you will remain stucked to this little piece of land
that smells like fire and branches and water
and freshly made tortilla .....
looking around at the last bus stop today
I did not expect to see you anymore
and still I heard you
you told me in the wind
" forever I'll be here!"
I'm trying to distinguish now each single voice
of all those who have fallen on concrete
now I would give everything I have and I am,
to see you at the exit of the market
running behind the bus full of students on their way home from school
and shouting:
"water water
water!
a bag of fresh water! "
sweet water
fresh water
pure water
to quench your thirst for freedom and peace
